Understanding Body Types: A Guide to Fitness and Health
Understanding your body type is perhaps one of the most important things in fitness and health. It is divided into three main categories: ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph. The characteristics, advantages, and challenges of each of these body types are unique to each.
Ectomorph
Ectomorphs have a fast metabolism and are lean and thin. They would not be capable of getting too heavy or muscular, but they would be naturally athletic and agile. Generally, they have a low percentage body fat, and many describe them as "skinny" or "fragile".
Mesomorph
These mesomorphs are leaner and athletically shaped; they usually possess a balanced rate of metabolism. Mesomorphs often refer to persons of a 'balanced' or an 'hour glass' figure body type as such. Moderation in percentage and body fatness is evident about mesomorphs but natural strength, agile, or the like in it.
Endomorph
A curved and rounded physique with a very slow metabolism belongs to endomorphs, who gain easily and lose more difficultly; they store more fat easily as well. Actually, endomorphs mainly have a great body fat percent and are actually called voluptuous or curvy.
